Eva in October

Written by Door51 Photography on Oct 17 2009 | Children's Photography, Family

Feels like forever since I posted photos of our daughter on the blog, and she’s grown so much since then. If you have your own, I’m sure you know just how fast they change in their first year. Eva’s no exception. She’s been a wonderful baby and an absolute joy in our lives.

While we’re on the subject of children, I would like to point you to the new Promotions and Events section of the blog. There, you’ll find details about our “Halloween in the Park” event that will focus on your adorable “trick or treaters”. We’ll look forward to seeing you there!

And now, without further adieu, a few recent images of Eva and her proud parents.

Lena and Mike’s Wedding in Half Moon Bay

Written by Door51 Photography on Sep 20 2009 | Wedding

We photographed Mike and Lena’s engagement in San Francisco back in January. They introduced us to the beautiful Balmy street and later their adorable pets. Last weekend we had the pleasure of seeing them tie the knot at the beautiful Hastings House just across the street from the Miramar Beach.

The day started at the Pacific Victorian Inn, where Lena and her girls were getting their makeup and hair done by the talented Shelly Willis of Fierce Faces.

Meanwhile, Mike and the boys were already at the ceremony site, awaiting Lena’s arrival…

Luis & Cassie’s Wedding in Santa Cruz, CA

Written by Door51 Photography on Sep 07 2009 | Wedding

You may remember a lovely couple from a March engagement shoot in the yellow fields. This weekend was their time to get married!

The wedding transpired at the Highlands Park in Santa Cruz, California. Surrounded by greenery, both ceremony and reception took place outside.  The couple got ready at the premises, in the bright, clean rooms of the house. The excitement in their eyes, and the joy in their smiles made it such a pleasure to be around them, and be able to capture this beautiful event.

The light blue walls of the room open the doors for wonderful texturing treatments.

Since the couple was to see each other before the ceremony, we wanted to make it special.  Luis in the foreground, looking at me, anticipating the arrival of his beautiful bride. The door in the background opens, Cassie walks in and flashes a smile. The hands go around Luis’ eyes and he grins.  Cassie’s ready and it’s time to turn around and see the bride for the first time. The look on his face is pricelsess (2nd image on the right).  Watching this moment unfold was a gift that I share with you.

Some bridal party fun followed.

The Mariachi band was entertaining the arriving guests. They. Were. Awesome.

Finally, it was time for the wedding ceremony to begin. The father walks the emotional bride down the aisle in the gaze of the admiring groom.

And so it begins…

The mixing of sand was a wonderful alternative to the unity candle… they were in Santa Cruz after all.

Max & Alexis in a Tilt Shift World

Written by Door51 Photography on Aug 26 2009 | Creative Portrait, Engagement Session

Our lovely friends Max & Alexis came over and brought a new lens for me to play with. The incredible TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II. Brand new, this lens is worth a small fortune, but you can rent it from BorrowLenses.com for just a fraction of the cost. In fact, if you happen to be into photography, I highly recommend you spend some time with it!

It is not an easy lens to master, so don’t judge me to harshly on the following set. It was, after all, my first attempt.
